Official Specification
Flegnil (Carbocisteine) is a mucoregulator-mucolytic, for respiratory tract
disorders characterized by excessive viscous mucus, including E.N.T., disorders.
Dosage & Administration
Flegnil (Carbocisteine) is indicated for chronic respiratory conditions like
bronchitis, bronchial obstruction as in asthma, bronchiectasis, upper respiratory
tract congestion, glue ear, otitis media, eustachian cattarrah, sinusitis,
rhinopharyngitis.
Precaution
Dose
Adult : 30 mg/kg daily in divided doses initially, then 20 mg/kg daily in
divided doses or 750 mg 3 times daily initially, then 1.5 g daily in
divided doses.
Child : Normal dose is 20 mg/kg daily in divided doses or 2-5 years 62.5 -125 mg
4 times daily, 6-12 years 250 mg 3 times daily.
Contraindications
There are no contraindications to the use of Carbocisteine.
Precaution
Carbocisteine should not be taken by people with an active peptic ulcer.
Use Pregnancy Lactation
There is no information on the use of Carbocisteine during lactation. While there
are no reports of teratogenic effects, the manufacturers do not recommend the
use of Carbocisteine in the first trimester.
Drug Interaction
Neither hazardous nor therapeutically useful interactions have been reported.
Side Effects
Adverse effects of Carbocisteine are occasional gastrointestinal irritations, rashes.

Flegnil-DS? Suspension: Each 5 ml contains Carbocisteine BP 250 mg.
Flegnil ? Suspension: Bottle containing 100 ml suspension.
Flegnil-DS? Suspension: Bottle containing 100 ml suspension.
Storage
Store in a cool and dry place protected from light.
