Preparation
Pep-plus syrup: Each 5 ml syrup contains Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate USP 27.45 mg equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride (B1) BP 5 mg, Riboflavin (B2) BP 2 mg, Nicotinamide (B3) BP 20 mg and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6) BP 2 mg.
Pep-plus tablet: Each tablet contains Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate USP 27.45 mg equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride (B1) BP 5 mg, Riboflavin (B2) BP 2 mg, Nicotinamide (B3) BP 20 mg and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6) BP 2 mg.
Indication
Zinc is essential for the correction of Zinc deficiency problems like growth retardation, decreased taste and smell, alopecia, dermatitis, diarrhea, immunological dysfunction, failure to thrive etc. Vitamin B-complex aids in energy utilization from food, helps in proper functions of nervous system and facilitates RBC formation.
Contraindication
Pep-plus is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to the constituents of this product.
Dosage & Administration
Pep-plus syrup:
Adult : 10 ml (2 teaspoonful) 2 to 3 times daily
Children : 10 ml (2 teaspoonful) 1 to 3 times daily
Infant : 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 1 to 2 times daily
Pep-plus tablet:
Children (7-12 yrs): 1 to 2 tablets daily
Adult: : 2 to 4 tablets daily or
as recommended by the physician.
Side Effect
Pep-plus is generally well tolerated and no significant side effect is reported.
Precaution
Drug should be discontinued to the patients with hypertensive to Vitamin B-complex.
Use in pregnancy & Lactation
Recommended.
Drug Interaction
Zinc reduces absorption of Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Moxifloxacin. Absorption of Zinc is reduced by oral Iron and vice versa. Pyridoxine reduces the effects of Levodopa.
