Preparation
Onium Tablet: Each film-coated tablet contains Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN 50 mg.
Onium IV/IM Injection: Each 2 ml ampoule contains Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN 5 mg.
Onium Syrup: Each 5 ml syrup contains Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN 10 mg.
Indication
Onium (Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN) is an antispasmodic drug. It reduces muscle spasms of the intestine, biliary system, bladder and uterus. Onium (Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN) is indicated for pain in gastrointestinal and biliary diseases and in urology and gynaecology such as Gastroenteritis, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Biliary Colic, Enterocolitis, Cholecystitis, Colonopathies, Mild Cystitis and Spasmodic Dysmenorrhoea.
Contraindication
Onium (Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN) should not be used in Glaucoma (acute pain of eyeball with vision disturbances), difficulty to urinate (disorders of prostate or bladder).
Dosage & Administration
Onium Tablet: In adults the usual oral dosage is 2 to 6 tablets (100-300 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN) daily in divided doses as required.
Onium Syrup: Children: 1.5 to 3.0 ml/kg body weight daily in three divided doses. Adult: 15 to 45 ml three times daily.
Onium Injection: In adults the usual dosage is 1 ampoule of Onium (Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN 5 mg) by slow IV or IM
injection 3 times per day
Side Effect
Onium (Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN) may have some undesirable effects in certain individuals like patients with risk of hypotension and tachycardia specially when the route of administration is injection.
Precaution
Avoid taking Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN without medical advice during pregnancy or breast-feeding. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to seek advice from your physician. Keep out of the reach of children.
Drug Interaction
Tiemonium Methylsulphate tablet should not be used with other drugs without prior consult of a registered physician to avoid possible drug interaction.

Use Children
Safety and effectiveness of Tiemonium methylsulphate in paediatric patients have not been established.
Use Pregnancy Lactation
Tiemonium Methylsulphate may be used in pregnancy and lactating mother only if it is clearly needed by the assessment of risk benefit ratio.
Overdosage
Occasional retention of urine may occur in case of overdoses.

Onium Tablet: Each box contains 5 x 10’s tablets in blister pack.
Onium Syrup 100 ml: Each PET bottle contains 100 ml syrup with a 15 ml measuring cup.
Onium IV/IM Injection: Each box contains 1 x 5's ampoules of
2 ml in blister pack.
Storage
Store in cool dry place, protected from light. Store below 30 °C temparature. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
